Rev. Caroline
Small steps

Small steps
From the front door to the street outside
From a secluded garden to wide open spaces
From a cuppa alone to a cuppa with friends
We’re getting back to something like normal
Small steps
From Facetiming the family
to kissing them on the cheek
From online shopping
to going round the shops
From working from home
to clocking in at our place of work
We’re getting back to something like normal

Small steps
From listening to the organist
to joining in with our voices
(“One more step along the world I go . . .”)
From carefully counting the numbers
to inviting all friends to the funeral
From meetings on Zoom
to gathering in the church hall
We’re getting back to something like normal
Small steps
From our church, our parish, our minister
to God’s church and people and minister
From working in isolation
to co-operating
with other kirks, other denominations
From worrying about decreasing numbers
to trusting in the Lord
to help us preach the gospel - with actions
(Cross outside Edzell Church)

Small steps
One after another after another
Side by side
Led by the Lord Jesus who is the Way
and who has promised to be with us always.
We all have to start somewhere.
