Not out

It’s raining as I write, and I can’t see a single soul out for their daily walk. The rain doesn’t bother me but I do understand that it can make some people long for sunshine, and the holiday abroad that has already been postponed twice.

I hope you haven’t given up on your plans to explore far and wide, and that your walking boots haven't been put to another use.

Maybe it’s a spot of birdwatching you are especially looking forward to.

Or fishing - beating the birds at their own game?

Or another sort of water sport.

Or perhaps it’s the hustle and bustle of the shopping mall that you miss.

While we dream, let’s spare a thought – and a prayer – for those in the scientific world who are not only concerned with the defeat of Covid-19 but other diseases too.

And let’s not forget the students – the bright hope of tomorrow’s world – who are stuck at home or in small groups on or near campus, deprived of the social side of university and college life, where horizons can be expanded and the world is their oyster.

“What a wonderful God we have – he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials.” (2nd Corinthians, chapter 1, verses 3-4 from The Living Bible)

With thanks to Carolyn who took these wonderful photos.
